ALMERAYA

Almeraya means “The Mirror” and is the ancient name that was given to the city of Almeria in Spain by the Arabs. As well it is the name Amir-John Haddad’s (ex Radio Tarifa) flamenco group.

All the cultures that enhanced the strong personality of nowadays flamenco are reflected in this mirror. Almeraya is the best chance to discover the wide range of this art form by the hand of the original and very flamenco sounding guitarist Amir-John Haddad. Apart from the guitar he introduces the Greek bouzouki and refers musically to the cultural heritage that was left by the Arabs in Andalucía. He is capable of interpreting certain flamenco styles with oriental influences.

On stage he is always joined by fine artists like the sensitive and powerful voice of Eva Durán, the grounded rhythm of Enrique Terrón Duque, the passionate violin of Raúl Márquez and the marvellous and accurate flamenco dance of Inmaculada Ortega from Jerez de la Frontera.
